Every season is a great time to visit Dunkeld and explore the Grampians National Park..… and Summer is no exception. Whilst the day temperatures can get into the high 30’s on occasions, it generally hovers in the 20’s.
The beautiful landscaped gardens and well-watered lawns always present a pleasant environment, and the cottages are well able to cope with the warmer weather. They are naturally well insulated, and all have air conditioners as well as ceiling fans.
If the weather is conducive, the southern peaks of the Grampians beckon. Take to the mountain trails and enjoy majestic views from Mt Sturgeon, the Piccaninny and Mt Abrupt. Always prepare well, be ‘Sunsmart’ and take water.
On those warmer days, perhaps a drive through the Grampians to Halls Gap (65km) and the cooling spray from one of the iconic waterfalls; fine dining and a glass of wine at Dunkeld’s award-winning Royal Mail Hotel; a drive to Hamilton (30km) which boasts one of Australia’s finest regional art galleries and the William Guilfoyle designed Botanic Gardens; or a trip to the coastal beaches at Warrnambool or the historic Port Fairy a little over an hour to the south, via a number of recently extinct volcanoes.
Whatever your activities, you will return to a comfortable, well-equipped cottage where you will be able to easily regulate the room temperature.
