Ways we are lightening our footprint on our naturally unique destination
At Southern Grampians Cottages we take sustainability seriously. We are on a continuous journey where we reflect, change and develop what we are doing to not only protect our beautiful Grampians region but to hopefully restore and improve it over time. We work hard to partner with businesses who produce products that reflect the values that are important to us.
-Stocking our cottages with ‘Who Gives a Crap’ toilet paper and paper towel. Eco -friendly essentials that do good and feel good. 50% of their profits are donated to clean water and sanitation projects around the world.
-Use ‘Simply Clean’ cleaning and laundry products which are Made in Australia, completely non-toxic, carcingenic-free, sensitiser-free and as gentle as possible on human health and the environment. The best part is that it comes in bulk refill containers, an easy way for us to reduce single use plastic.
-Our beautiful ‘Koala Eco’ bathroom products are packaged in recyclable 100% post -consumer recycled refillable bottles, with the contents being natural, non-toxic and no synthetic fragrances.
Where possible buy furniture, linen etc from local family businesses
What you can do to help us
We are very fortunate to have safe drinking water from all of our taps. Please bring a refillable bottle with you and enjoy our water for free.
-A container is provided under your sink for food scraps. We use this to either feed our chickens or we put it in our compost.
-All wood and kindling is collected locally. We love seeing people enjoying their wood burning heater but please do not waste wood. Every fallen down log creates an animal habitat, so the more we chop up the less homes there are for our many small native animals.
-Remember all rubbish that goes into the National Park must come out. Please think about this when packing and remember each cottage has re-usable containers that you are very welcome to borrow.
